Stephen Sciame, MSEd, is an outdoor educator and the owner of Blue Campfire Experiences. Stephen first began his own outdoor education as a Boy Scout in his hometown in northern NJ. He observed birds of prey in his area, but found that few people in his community knew much about them. This turned into a desire for more education about these birds, which became a key point for his Eagle Scout project in 2003. His early experience working outdoors in summer camps and the Palisades Region of NJ brought him to NY in 2008 to work in the New York States Parks department and local YMCA as well as volunteer with birds of prey in a Westchester County nature reservation. After learning a great deal about local environmental history and needs, Stephen left the parks department in 2015 to turn his attention from preserving and maintaining the land to educating about it. He continued to build upon his vast knowledge of nature and outdoor survival skills in the private sector, including creating food-based programs using solar ovens. Seeing a growing attitude of fear and misunderstanding about the natural world he founded Blue Campfire Experiences in 2019.
As the cornerstone of Blue Campfire Experiences' mission, our programs are built upon two core beliefs: (1) One person, no matter how small, can make a big difference in their environment, and (2) We are forever students, always believing our natural world has so much more to teach us if just we quiet our busy selves long enough to listen and observe.
Stephen can often be found with a book in his hands, observing the flora and fauna wherever he is standing, and teaching the next generation of environmental stewards, including his daughter who just happened to be born on Earth Day.
Our mission is to provide quality nature, outdoor education, and other programs through hands on experiences for participants of all ages.

"Stephen is knowledgeable, versatile, engaging and fun. We are so pleased with all the different programs he has done for us both in person and virtually. He was very helpful during Covid by adapting his in-person programs to fun and informative virtual programs. His knowledge of non-traditional board games is extensive and his love for the outdoors shine though in his programs."
Stephan Sciame has done a variety of programs at the Warner Library and all of them have been fun and informative. In particular the kids liked the paracord bracelet making workshop. His Zombie Apocalypse Land Navigation Training program also won praise from the attendees. I would recommend his programs to any library, he is professional and engaging and imparts his own sense of wonder to all who attend.
